ABOUT THE LINDISFARNE CHILDREN’S PRIZE 

The Lindisfarne Children’s Prize is a storytelling competition for primary aged children who attend school in the North East of England, sponsored by the author LJ Ross through her publishing imprint, Dark Skies Publishing.  

Speaking about why she established the Competition, LJ Ross said:  

“Like so many of us, I was shocked and deeply saddened by the destruction of the beautiful Sycamore Gap tree on Hadrian’s Wall. This beloved tree, an icon of the North-East, has been the source of inspiration for so many writers, artists and photographers – myself included. Keen for something positive to come out of something so negative, I’ve set up this competition with the theme of ‘Trees’ – a chance for children to think about the importance of trees and let their imaginations run free!” 

Each year, a new theme is chosen to inspire learning and creativity, with the theme this year being ‘The Magic of Trees’.

Winning entries will be awarded a cash prize to support their school library, as well as their own individual awards.
